FAQ
Where is your studio located? At The Mill at Shelburne Falls, inside the former Lamson & Goodnow cutlery manufacturing company. Credited with having been “a major contributor to the region’s transformation from a primarily agricultural to an industrial economy,” L&G maintains a retail location on the adjacent property. The main portion of the manufacturing complex has grown into an amazing community art space, full of numerous creatives, small businesses, and an excellent used bookstore.
When is the studio open to visitors? Friday/Saturday 10am-4pm, or by appointment.
Where else can I buy your prints? In Shelburne Falls, Boswell’s Books, Raven Used Books, and Nancy L. Dole Books & Ephemera; in nearby Conway MA, the Natural Roots farm store; and in Brattleboro VT, at the inimitable community print studio, First Proof Press.
Do you offer custom printing? Yes! Learn more at our Custom Printing info page.
What if I like a print but want it in a different ink color? We offer semi-customization of any existing art and will gladly modify according to your specs.
What size frames do you offer? It depends on what is in stock. If we don’t have what you want, there is an excellent frame shop just down the hall from our studio!
Do you ship outside the U.S.? Yes, but not through our regular online checkout. Email us for a shipping/VAT quote before placing your order.
What type of inks do you use? All of the inks we use are water-based.
What is the difference between water-based inks and plastisol inks? In terms of chemical makeup, plastisol inks are plastic-based, water-based inks are not. You probably have plastisol ink on your shirt right now (or on one folded up in a drawer somewhere). It has been around since the mid-20th century and definitely has its place, because it can last a VERY long time… as in, decades. Unfortunately, it can also last a long time everywhere else it winds up – water systems, landfills, and so forth. Water-based inks are thinner than plastisol and tend to soak into the fabric rather than sit on top. This means they are usually softer to the touch and more comfortable to wear. Our inks are water-soluble, so the harshest chemical required for cleanup during production is liquid soap.
